Increase in Street Crime: Woman’s Bag Snatched by Motorcyclist in Jorhat

Jorhat, Mar 1: In a distressing turn of events, a bike-borne miscreant seized a bag in broad daylight on Friday, containing money, a mobile phone, and crucial documents, from an individual. The unsettling incident unfolded in front of the Jorhat SBI, merely 100 meters from the Jorhat Superintendent of Police’s office. Identified as Nabanita Neog Saikia, the victim holds the position of headmaster at Charigaon Girls High School.

This incident follows two separate robbery occurrences earlier in the week within Jorhat Town. Such developments raise serious concerns about the efficacy of police security measures in the area. Compounding matters, with the Jorhat police preoccupied ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled visit, perpetrators seem emboldened to exploit the situation further.

Local residents, alarmed by the escalating frequency of robberies, express apprehension that unless stringent actions are taken promptly, the menace posed by such miscreants will only exacerbate in the locality.
